FIRST stands for First in Inspiration and Recognition of Science & Technology. It's a competitive robotics organization that challenges thousands of students to think like an engineer. FIRST Tech Challenge is one of the four different subgroups of FIRST. In FTC, competitors are introduced to basic concepts of mechanical design and software development. With the guidance of coaches and mentors, teams work together to design a robot that can "field"-- a set of dangerous and risky obstacles that the robot must overcome to score points in a two minute and thirty second game.

Decode is the theme for the 2025 - 2026 First Tech Challenge season. The objective of this game is to score as many points as possible using your robot, the way that you obtain points is by shooting balls known as artifacts in certain order in for to obtain the most amount of points.
